As in my other walkthroughs I have stayed away from anything dealing with the plot, but if you consider boss names a spoiler, then tread carefully. Well, let's take a look shall we? >> The game now contains six modes of difficulty when compared to the original's five modes of difficulty. EASY - A brand new mode for Devil May Cry 3 beginners. NORMAL - Easy mode from the NA release of Devil May Cry 3. HARD - Normal mode from the NA release of Devil May Cry 3. VERY HARD - Hard mode from the NA release of Devil May Cry 3. DANTE MUST DIE - This mode remains unchanged from the original Dante Must Die mode from the original Devil May Cry 3. HEAVEN OR HELL - This mode also remains unchanged from the original Heaven or Hell mode from the original Devil May Cry 3. >> The game now contains a new playable character (Vergil) that previously was only playable in Devil May Cry 3 with the use of a cheat device. If you can master this style, you will be able to run circles around your enemies. >> Air Trick (O, Hold R1 and press O, or press Toward (an enemy) + O) Vergil instantly teleports next to the enemy. If you knock an enemy into the air while locked on, then do an Air Trick, Vergil will teleport up into the air right beside the enemy allowing you to attack him. If you know the enemy's attacks well enough this move can be used to teleport right through an enemy's attack if timed correctly. Please note that Vergil can only teleport a certain distance and not all the way across the screen. The beauty of this move is realized more so when R1 is not used in combination with O. For instance, if you are fighting a group of three enemies and one is to the left, one is to the right, and the other is in front of you... (E = Enemy, A = Attacking Enemy, V = Vergil, v = Vergil phasing, <> = teleport) E | E - V - E You can hit the front enemy until he attacks then Air Trick to the left enemy by quickly pressing Left + O before the attack connects. A | EV<<v - E This will allow you to dodge the first enemy's attack instantly and you can continue to attack on another enemy. If the left enemy attacks, assuming Vergil is facing him, you can use Air Trick to teleport to the enemy behind you (right enemy) by pressing Back + O. E | Av>>>>>VE Stylish! >> Trick Up (R1, then Forward + O) Vergil will instantly teleport to a spot directly above where he was standing or jumping. This will have to be used in the places where Dante usually uses Air Hike. This move is extremely useful for avoiding an enemy's attack then countering them from above. For instance, if you are fighting a heavily armored enemy and he is about to interrupt your attack with an attack of his own, you can Trick Up the moment right before he attacks then counter him from above with an air attack while falling. >> Trick Down (R1, then Back + O) Vergil will instantly teleport to a spot directly below where he was standing or jumping. When this move is used on the ground, Vergil will teleport a short distance away from the enemy. ============== = DEVIL ARMS = ============== ------ YAMATO ------ A memento from Vergil's father. This samurai-esque sword's blade is said to cut through anything. >> Yamato Combo (/\, /\, /\) Virgil hits the enemy twice with the handle of the Yamato then unsheathes the sword and finishes the combo with a horizontal slash. The first two hits are not too great, but the slash at the end it very useful for clearing a crowd of enemies. >> Upper Slash (Hold R1, then Back + /\. Press /\ again for an optional downward strike.) Vergil uppercuts the enemy into the air with the first hit. The optional second hit is a downward strike that knocks the enemy back down to the ground. The first part is great to use as a launcher for an air combo - Air Trick up into the air after the uppercut then follow it up with an Aerial Rave. >> Aerial Rave (/\ in the air) Vergil will unsheathe the Yamato in the air and slash twice. This move is a godsend! Not only is it quick and powerful, but it has incredible distance as well. Barely tapping the jump button while continually slashing can make for ultimate pressure against any enemy. >> Rapid Slash (Hold R1, then Forward + /\) Vergil will dash toward the enemy and quickly slice them with a horizontal slash. This is an excellent move for crowds or for knocking an enemy down quickly. >> Judgement Cut (Charge /\, then release) Judgement Cut will break apart a crowd of normal minions fairly quick with its distant quick cuts. This can be the ultimate move for disposing of a big enemy. Chess Pieces fear it greatly! Make sure the enemy will remain immobile for a while when attempting this move. ------- BEOWULF ------- Flash gauntlets and greaves. The set boosts Vergil's attack and speed making him a powerhouse. >> Beowulf Combo (/\, /\, /\) Vergil will punch twice then end the combo with a two-hit whirlwind kick. The whirlwind kicks works fairly well for clearing a path in front of you through a group of enemies. The first two hits set the enemy up perfectly to chain into any of Beowulf's other actions. >> Starfall (Jump then /\) Vergil will leap into the air and do an aerial downward kick on the enemy below him. This is an excellent combo starter for when you dodge an enemy's attack with a Trick Up or while jumping normally. >> Rising Sun (Hold R1, then Back + /\) Vergil will uppercut the enemy with two upward kicks. Vergil will remain in the air after this attack so you can follow it up with any of his other Devil Arm air attacks. >> Lunar Phase (Hold R1, then Forward + /\) Vergil will leap into the air and do a somersaulting set of flip kicks to his foe and end it with an incredibly powerful overhead kick. Lunar Phase is Vergil's ultimate pressure move for hitting fast and hard. This will be your main boss attack. ---------- FORCE EDGE ---------- A sword magically imbued with Sparda's power. A powerful sword with great hidden potential. >> Force Edge Combo (/\, /\, /\, /\) Vergil will perform two slashes, two hits with the sword sheath, an upward slice with the Yamato, then end the combo with an overhead strike. This combo is an excellent way to follow up a Stinger hit. Its fast and long plus the final hit is very powerful. >> Helmet Breaker (Jump then /\) Vergil will come down upon the enemy with a quick downward strike. This is good for getting away with a quick and powerful hit when you are fighting an aggressive enemy. Mix this up with Vergil's Trick Up and you will get an extremely deadly combination. You can basically play like the final boss in the game with continuous Trick Ups and Helmet Breakers especially when Devil Triggered. >> Stinger (Hold R1, then Forward + /\) Much like Dante's Stinger with Rebellion, Vergil will dash toward the enemy with a powerful thrust. This move is good for interrupting an enemy's attack when you see an open spot. >> High Time (Hold R1, then Back + /\. Hold /\ to jump into the air after the uppercut) Vergil will uppercut the enemy with Force Edge. This is just like Dante's uppercut with Rebellion except Vergil can't follow it up with much. >> Round Trip (Charge /\, then release) Vergil will toss the spinning Force Edge at an enemy. While the weapon remains out of Vergil's hands he will only be able to attack with Yamato until the Force Edge returns. ======== = GUNS = ======== --------------- SUMMONED SWORDS --------------- Magically generated swords will appear next to Vergil and fly toward the enemy or area in front of him. When fully powered the Summoned Swords can deal some decent constant damage from a distance with their rapid stabs. _ >> Spiral Swords (Charge |_|) The Summoned Swords will rotate around Vergil and will hit any enemy that gets close to hit. This works really well for when you charge into a crowd of enemies. * Please note that this move takes two Devil Trigger runes per Spiral Sword set. _ >> Sword Storm (after Spiral Swords, hold R1 then press Forward + |_|) The Spiral Swords that rotate around Vergil will rotate around the targeted enemy then stab him all at once. Do this move for some extra damage before you combo an enemy. _ >> Blistering Swords (after Spiral Swords, hold R1 then press Back + |_|) The Swords will line up on the sides of Vergil's torso then rapidly fly and stab the enemy. This is good for when you want to spam an enemy quickly with swords. ================= = OTHER ACTIONS = ================= >> Taunt (Select) Vergil will taunt the nearest enemy, which will boost his style meter and cause him to regain Devil Trigger energy (2 runes per successful taunt). Unlike Dante, Vergil's taunt will change depending on his current Devil Arm that he has equipped. >> Devil Trigger Charge Stance Taunt near an enemy while Yamato is equipped and allow Vergil to stand still - soon a dark aura will appear around him and this will slowly begin to charge his Devil Trigger energy. Please keep in mind that an enemy must be near Vergil for this to work. >> Devil Trigger Flux (Hold L1, then release) Hold down L1 until one or more Devil Trigger runes have charged, then release L1 for a minor explosion that will damage any nearby enemies in the area while you change to your Devil Trigger state. Only a maximum of four Runes can be charged at once. If you beat Dante Must Die mode with Vergil, you will get a costume that will allow you infinite Devil Trigger with Corrupt Vergil.) ============== = DEVIL ARMS = ============== ------------------- YAMATO & FORCE EDGE ------------------- >> Yamato and Force Edge Combo (/\, /\, /\) Nelo does a vertical slice then a horizontal slice and then waves his sword in front of him performing two more horizontal slices. >> Helmet Breaker (Jump then /\) Nelo will do a jumping overhead strike similar to Vergil's Helmet Breaker, but with much more power. >> High Time (Hold R1, then Back + /\) Just like Vergil's High Time, Nelo will uppercut his enemy into the air. Hold /\ to follow the enemy into the air. >> Charged Rapid Slash (Hold R1, then Forward + /\) Nelo will charge his sword then dash forward and perform a sword strike. This is a perfect time to charge for the Charge Fist so you can perform it directly after this move (see Other Actions). ------- BEOWULF ------- >> Beowulf Combo (/\, /\, /\) Nelo will perform a straight punch and uppercut and then chain into an upward kick. >> Starfall (Jump then /\) Nelo will fall from the air with a diving kick. >> Flame Uppercut (Hold R1, then Back + /\) Nelo will uppercut the enemy in front of him leaving a flame pillar. >> Flame Kick (Hold R1, then Forward + /\) Nelo will move forward and unleash a burning straight kick to his foe. ================= = OTHER ACTIONS = ================= >> Charge Fist (Hold /\, release) Nelo will charge his fist and unleash a powerful flame shot from his fist. >> Charge Shots (Repeatedly press /\ during Charge Fist) Nelo will shoot out two additional shots from his hand after the first flame shot. >> Taunt (Select) Nelo will taunt the nearest enemy, which will boost his style meter. Unlike Vergil, Nelo's taunts do not depend upon the current weapon equipped. Dante can dash a maximum of three times when Trickster is fully leveled up. >> Wall Hike (Press O while moving toward a wall (jumping or standing)) Dante will ether run directly up the wall and do a back flip off the wall at the peak of his run or run at an angle along the wall and do a back flip. >> Sky Star (Jump then press O) Dante will quickly dash forward while in the air with a burst of speed. >> Air Trick (Hold R1 then toward an enemy + O) Dante will instantly teleport toward the targeted enemy and land slightly above him. ----------- SWORDMASTER ----------- Style in which the player can master different swords and maximize each sword's power. * Please see Dante's DEVIL ARMS sections for the moves for each specific Devil Arm. ---------- GUNSLINGER ---------- Style in which the player can master different guns and maximize each gun's technique. * Please see Dante's GUNS section for the moves for each specific gun. ----------- ROYAL GUARD ----------- Minimizing the damage of an enemy attack, this style allows the player to maneuver into a more strategic position. >> Block & Charge (Press O on the ground before an enemy attack) Dante will block or deflect an incoming enemy attack and build up anger for his release move. Press O the second right before an enemy attack to successfully deflect it. You will take some slight damage if you simply block it. >> Release (Hold R1, then Forward + O before an enemy attack) If timed correctly, Dante will charge right through the enemy and unleash the built up anger from prior Block & Charges. >> Air Block (Jump then press O right before an enemy attack) Dante will block or deflect an incoming enemy attack and build up anger for his release move while in the air. >> Air Release (Jump then Forward + O before an enemy attack) If timed correctly, Dante will charge right through the enemy while in the air and unleash the built up anger from prior Block & Charges. >> Ultimate (Hold R1, then Back + O) Dante will set up a force field in front of him, which will convert oncoming enemy attacks into life energy. ----------- QUICKSILVER ----------- Time-controlling style in which the player can move at lightning quick speeds. >> Time Lag (R1 + O) Dante will unleash a dimensional time-rift wave that will slow enemies to a crawl allowing him to attack them quickly. ------------ DOPPELGANGER ------------ Style that allows the player to control shadows, effectively creating copies of himself to assist in battle. >> After-image (R1 + O) At the cost of Devil Trigger energy, Dante will unleash a shadow of himself that will fight beside him and copy his movement. A second player can control the shadow form while this move is in progress. ============== = DEVIL ARMS = ============== --------- REBELLION --------- A keepsake sword from Dante's father. Dante's blood has awakened the blade's true power. >> Rebellion Combo I (/\, /\, /\) The standard three hit combo for Rebellion - quite powerful and quick with nice recovery time at the end. >> Rebellion Combo II (/\, pause, /\, /\) A five hit combo comprised of a two single slashes mixed with a three hit middle slash that is perfect for controlling a crowd of enemies. >> Million Stab (Repeatedly press /\ while executing Combo II) Dante will quickly step toward the enemy and unleash a stream of continuous stabs before ending the move with one final stepping thrust. This move will only hit the area directly in front of Dante so it's best not to use it when surrounded. The move can be cancelled by stopping the button tap early. >> Helmet Breaker (Jump then /\) Dante falls from the air with a quick overheard strike. This is an excellent move for interrupting and enemies attack. >> Stinger (Hold R1, then Forward + /\) Dante unleashes a high-speed thrust attack that will send the enemies to their feet quickly. >> High Time (Hold R1, then Back + /\) Dante will lunge toward the enemy and perform a powerful uppercut with Rebellion. >> Drive (Hold /\ the release) Dante charges Rebellion and leans back then sends a powerful shockwave toward his enemy. >> Air Hike (Jump then X) Dante leaps a second time with the use a magical energy that he creates beneath his feet. **** REBELLION Swordmaster Style >> Prop Shredder (O, O) Dante steps toward the enemy and unleashes an upward spin of Rebellion, then moves further in with a forward spin. >> Aerial Rave (Jump then O, O, O, O) Dante does four horizontal strikes with Rebellion while in the air. >> Sword Pierce (Hold R1, then Forward + O) Dante will hurl Rebellion at the targeted enemy impaling the enemy in the process. Tap /\ while the sword is out of his hands to do a kick and tap /\ while jumping to do a downward kick. Press O again to call Rebellion back. >> Dance Macabre (Hold R1, then Back + O rapidly) Dante slides toward the enemy and unleashes several slashes with Rebellion. This is basically all of Rebellion's combos in one continuous combination. Dante will end the sequence of hits with a Million Stab. >> Crazy Dance (Press O repeatedly during Dance Macabre) Dante will interrupt the Million Stab at the end of the Dance Macabre by plunging Rebellion into the ground and spinning around the sword while kicking in all directions. Dante will end the move by grabbing Rebellion and performing a frontward strike. -------- CERBERUS -------- A weapon of 3 interlocking rods, infused with the elemental power of ice. >> Cerberus Combo I (/\, /\, /\, /\, /\) A five hit combo that does considerable damage to an enemy in front of Dante. The final hit is very powerful. >> Cerberus Combo II (/\, /\, pause, /\, /\) Another variation of the normal Cerberus combo. This starts out with the same two hits of the original combo, but the final few hits are much more powerful. The final hit is actually another Cerberus move known as "Windmill". >> Satellite (Repeatedly press /\ during Combo II) Dante will interrupt the combo with a two-hit spin of his nunchucks that will spin around his body and hit anything next to him. >> Swing (Jump then /\) Dante jumps into the air and quickly swings Cerberus at whatever is in front of him. This is Dante's quickest air attack. >> Revolver (Hold R1, then Forward + /\) Dante does a spinning sideways jump while swinging Cerberus. This is by far one of Cerberus' best moves because of the amount of damage and Dante is shielded very well from oncoming attacks with his violent swinging. >> Windmill (Hold R1, then Back + /\) Dante steps forward and spins the nunchucks in a propeller-like motion. Keep tapping the /\ button to make this move last longer. **** CERBERUS Swordmaster Style >> Flicker (O) Dante twirls his nunchucks at the area directly in front of him. >> Crystal (Hold R1, then Forward + O) Dante thrusts his nunchucks directly into the ground making a huge ice pillar in front of him. >> Million Carats (Press O repeatedly during Crystal) Dante hits the ground once again making ice pillars rise from the ground on all sides of him. >> Ice Age (Hold R1, then Back + O) Dante twirls the nunchucks over his head and encases himself in a large ice shield. Dante is completely invincible while encased in the ice shield. ------------ AGNI & RUDRA ------------ Blades with serrated edges that hurl forth fire and tornado-like gusts. >> Agni & Rudra Combo I (/\, /\, /\, /\, /\) Dante unleashes a seven-hit combo against his enemy. The first two hits are a bit slow, but this is one of Dante's most damaging combos. >> Agni & Rudra Combo II (/\, pause, /\, /\) A five hit combo that ends with a stab of both blades. >> Agni & Rudra Combo III (/\, pause, /\, pause, /\) Another version of the above combo that ends much more violently with four slashes followed by a stepping kick. >> Million Slash (Repeatedly press /\ while executing Combo III) Dante will perform a series of several rapid cross slashes with incredible speed. This move will hit anything in front or to the sides of Dante - his only weakness is his backside during this move. This is an excellent move for those that like non-stop aggression. >> Aerial Cross (Jump then /\) Dante leaps into the air and hits his foe with a strike from both Agni & Rudra that creates an X shape in front of him. >> Jet-Stream (Hold R1, then Forward + hold /\) Depending on the level of this move, Dante will run toward the enemy and do four violent slashes then end the combination with a cross slash. Keep in mind that you can end the move quickly by releasing the /\ button early. This is one of the most aggressive moves in the game. >> Whirlwind (Hold R1, then Back + /\) Similar to High Time with Rebellion, this move will uppercut the enemy into the air, but this time, Dante will hit the enemy with an extra hit before launching them. Just like with High Time, you can hold /\ to go up into the air with the enemy after the uppercut. >> Air Hike (Jump then X) Dante leaps a second time with the use a magical energy that he creates beneath his feet. **** AGNI & RUDRA Swordmaster Style >> Crossed Swords (O) Dante slashes with both swords creating an X in front of him. >> Sky Dance (Jump then O, O, O) Dante slashes four times in the air then does a spinning slash as he falls. He will end the move with a cross slash when he hits the ground. >> Crawler (Hold R1, the Forward + O) Dante plunges both swords into the ground creating a flame current that moves across the ground directly in front of him. >> Twister (Hold R1, then Back + O) Dante holds both swords above his head and twirls them creating a vortex of fire. >> Tempest (Press O repeatedly during Twister) Dante leaps into the air while still spinning both swords as the fire vortex spreads out considerably. ----- NEVAN ----- Dante can control bats by jamming on this curious guitar. Its sickle attack is deadly. >> Tune-up (/\ while on the ground) Dante swings the guitar at whatever is in front of him as he readies his pose that links into many of Nevan's attacks. >> Nevan Combo I (/\ while in Tune-up mode) Dante strikes the guitar sending a flurry of electric bats toward his enemy. >> Nevan Combo II (Hold R1, then Left + /\ while in Tune-up mode) Dante jams on the guitar sending four flurries of electric bats toward his enemy. The bats will produce a minor force field in front of Dante while they are next to him that will protect him from some enemy attacks as well. >> Jam Session (Repeatedly press /\ during Combo II) Dante slides forward and jams on the guitar summoning a horde of electric bats all around. Rock on! >> Nevan Combo III (Hold R1, then Right + /\ while in Tune-up mode) Dante strikes the guitar sending out a blast of energy all around him. >> Air Play (Jump then /\) Dante leaps into the air and jams away on the guitar creating a several flurries of bats. Hold down on /\ to release a maximum of four electric bat flurries. >> Reverb Shock (Hold R1, then Forward + /\) Dante slides across the floor, attacking whatever is in his path, as he strikes the guitar and unleashes four flurries of bats. Dante will stay in his Tune-up stance after the move is over. This is definitely the main reason to use Nevan. >> Bat Rift (Hold R1, then Back + hold down /\) Dante steps forward and uppercuts the enemy with the guitar then holds the guitar behind his head and jams away creating several flurries of bats. /\ does not have to be held down if you want to do just the uppercut. >> Air Raid (While Devil Triggered, Jump, then R1 + X) Dante will jump into the air and suspend himself with his demon wings and float in the air for as long as Devil Trigger last. _ >> Thunderbolt (|_| during Air Raid) Dante will fire down blast of electricity while in the air. >> Vortex (/\ during Air Raid) Dante will perform a charged spin attack while floating in the air. **** NEVAN Swordmaster Style >> Slash (O) Dante does a quick slash then a large slash with the guitar. This move ends in Tune-up stance. >> Air Slash (Jump then O) Dante slashes at the enemy two times while in the air with the sickle-like guitar. >> Feedback (Hold R1, then Forward + O) Dante twirls the guitar around his body then ends the combination with a strike on the guitar. This move ends in Tune-up stance. >> Crazy Roll (Press O repeatedly during Feedback) While twirling the guitar, Dante starts to spin it more rapidly and produce electricity around him then ends the combination with a slash. This move also ends in Tune-up stance. >> Distortion (Hold R1, then press Back + O) Dante jams on the guitar and sends a whole stream of bats toward his foes. This move ends in Tune-up stance. ------- BEOWULF ------- Flash gauntlets and greaves. This set boosts Dante's attack and speed making him a powerhouse. >> Beowulf Combo I (/\, /\, /\) Dante will perform a jab, small uppercut, then an upward kick. >> Beowulf Combo II (/\, /\, pause, /\, /\) Dante does the first two hits of Combo I then chains into several kicks followed by a powerful overhead kick. >> Hyper Fist (Repeatedly press /\ during Combo II) Dante will interrupt the kicks with a series of rapid punches and end the combination with a powerful right punch. >> Killer Bee (Jump then /\) Dante leaps into the air and does a downward kick to the enemy. >> Straight (Hold R1, then Forward + /\) Dante lunges forward with a powerful punch. >> Beast Uppercut (Hold R1, then Back + /\) Dante charges then slides forward and unleashes a powerful uppercut that sends his foe flying into the air. >> Rising Dragon (Hold R1, then Back + /\, /\) Basically the same as the Beast Uppercut except Dante will follow the enemy up into the air afterwards. Tap O to make this move last longer. _ >> Charge Shot (Hold |_| then release) Dante focuses his energy and then releases a burst of super-charged handgun fire. _ >> Rapid Shot (Repeatedly press |_|) Dante will be able to quickly shoot off more shots at a quicker rate while firing the handguns. ------- SHOTGUN ------- A hunting shotgun that is very powerful at close range. **** SHOTGUN Gunslinger >> Fireworks (Press O on the ground or during a jump) Dante swings the shotgun around his body like a set of nunchucks and randomly blasts enemies all around him. _ >> Charge Shot (Hold |_| then release) Dante focuses his energy and then releases a burst of super-charged shotgun fire. _ >> Rapid Shot (Repeatedly press |_|) Dante will be able to quickly shoot off more shots at a quicker rate while firing the shotgun. >> Gun Stinger (Hold R1, then Forward + O) Dante will ram the enemy and fire off a quickly charged shot with the shotgun. >> Point Blank (Repeatedly press O near the end of the Gun Stinger) Dante will fire off two extra charged shots at the end of the Gun Stinger. ------- ARTEMIS ------- A gun of the demon world that discharges arrows concentrated with demon energy. **** ARTEMIS Gunslinger Style >> Multi-Lock (Hold O, then release) Dante charges Artemis then releases multiple beams. >> Sphere (Hold R1, then Forward + O) Dante unleashes a charged laser beam in the form of a sphere that will hit the enemy multiple times if he is directly in front of Dante. >> Acid Rain (Repeatedly press O during Sphere) Dante shoots multiple beam blasts into the air causing them to rain down all around his current area. ------ SPIRAL ------ A large rifle that fires high penetration-type bullets. **** SPIRAL Gunslinger Style >> Trick Shot (Press O) Dante will fire a blast that will ricochet off the surrounding walls hitting multiple enemies in the process. >> Sniper (Hold R1, then Forward + O) Dante targets an enemy and then fires off a blast that is much more damaging than a normal Spiral shot. >> Reflector (Press O repeatedly during Sniper) The bullet will ricochet off the surrounding walls after hitting the enemy. ----------- KALINA ANNE ----------- A gun with Lady's mother's name etched into the handle. It has various uses. **** KALINA ANNE Gunslinger Style >> Hysteric (Press O) Dante will stab the rocket launcher into the ground then put his foot on top of it and unleash a stream of mini-missiles that will hit the area in front of him. >> Grapple (Hold R1, then Back + O) Dante will launch out the grappling hook on the rocket launcher and impale an enemy then pull that enemy toward him. ================= = OTHER ACTIONS = ================= >> Taunt (Select) Dante will taunt the nearest enemy, which will boost his style meter and cause him to regain Devil Trigger energy (2 runes per successful taunt). Dante's taunt will change depending on his current style ranking from combos. >> Devil Trigger Flux (Hold L1, then release) Hold down L1 until one or more Devil Trigger runes have charged, then release L1 for a minor explosion that will damage any nearby enemies in the area while you change to your Devil Trigger state. Only a maximum of four Runes can be charged at once. This will work for normal enemies and bosses. >> Free Ride (Jump on top of a grounded enemy) Dante will land on top of the enemy then kick with his back leg and spin along the enemy's body while sliding forward. If you have Ebony & Ivory equipped you can fire both handguns while spinning by tapping square. This wouldn't be a complete Devil May Cry 3 walkthrough without Dante, but Vergil will always be addressed first. You will notice that throughout the walkthrough I have "Vergil" and "Dante" in parentheses to show that the information listed before the name is for that corresponding character in parentheses. Let me get one thing out of the way first and then we can start with the walkthrough. **** VERY IMPORTANT: Dante and Vergil's games must be kept on separate files. If you try to save over one character's file (Dante) with another character's file (Vergil) then you will lose any abilities, upgrades, completed missions, and movies that you have with that character (Dante in this case). If you have much trouble getting past this mission then I suggest you play it over and over a few times to upgrade some of your weapons since this mission is a cakewalk compared to the others. You will be introduced to the most basic of enemies during this fight. The Hell Prides (dark purple) will attack you first. Their only attack is a sickle attack, which they will do when you get close to them. Hell Lusts (red) will enter the room eventually along with plenty more Prides. Watch out for when the Hell Lust jumps back and squawks like a bird, that means he is about to lunge toward you with the sickle. Jump or roll out of the way when you hear him squawk. Try to stay out of the middle of the room so they don't group up on you. Stick with the Yamato ground combo mixed with the Upper Slash (Vergil) or air combos with Rebellion (Dante). [MI02] ______ __ ________ ______________________________________________ ________ __ __/ _ \/ |/ / ___/ Mission 2 / __/ __/___ _/ // / /|_/ / /__ _\ \/ _/_____ /____/_/ /_/\___/ _____________ The Blood Link _______________ /___/___/______ _______________________________________________________________________________ DANTE -------------- Bludgeon the devil like an iron hammer. ----------- VERGIL == Dante's Office: Front == Pick up the Vital Star S to the character's left. Jump away from the Hell Prides at the beginning since they will welcome you with a sickle slice. You will once again face tons of Hell Prides and Lusts. A Hell Wrath (skeleton with bomb) will teleport into the area eventually. Turn your attention toward defeating him with a projectile weapon and make sure that you stay far away from him since he will explode, dealing damage to anything around him, once he is killed. The same methods of attack for each character still work on this battle. =============================================================================== Boss - Hell Vanguard The Hell Vanguard at the end will be your first true taste of a boss battle. Stand next to him and hit him with your melee weapon until your weapons clash. Once your weapons have clashed, if you press the attack button anymore after that, your weapons will continually clash. Use a roll and dodge to the left or right to avoid the Vanguard's overhead scythe attack after the weapon clash. Attack him from the side after dodging the overhead attack. Eventually he will teleport to a different area - follow him and stay on top of him, but watch out for his two hit scythe attack while approaching him. If you ever hear a bell noise, that means the Hell Vanguard is about to perform one of his teleport attacks. When you see a distortion in the ground below you, roll or jump away from the distortion since he will shoot up out of the ground eventually. If you see a small portal start to form in the air, get ready to jump or roll since he will dash out of the portal and hit you with his scythe. The dodging can be a bit tricky for his air teleport - wait about a second and a half if you are trying to avoid it with a roll, then roll out of the way. He sometimes will not do his teleport move during this first battle depending on the difficulty. VERGIL - Use Beowulf's Lunar Phase or Force Edge's normal combo while Devil Triggered to attack him. If you have Lv.2 Judgement Cut you can totally rape him with Yamato's Judgement Cut after dodging his attacks. It only takes a few Judgement Cuts to kill him on any level except Dante Must Die. DANTE - Use Rebellion's normal combo and use Stinger when you dodge his scythe attack. =============================================================================== = Hell Vanguard Attacks = =============================================================================== Scythe Swing - The Vanguard will do an overhead scythe swing then follow it up with a horizontal slice. Air Teleport Attack - A bell will chime and a portal will open in the air then the Vanguard will dash through it while spinning his scythe. Ground Teleport Attack - A bell will chime and the ground will distort then the Vanguard will shoot up from the ground while spinning his scythe. =============================================================================== [MI03] ______ __ ________ ______________________________________________ ________ __ __/ _ \/ |/ / ___/ Mission 3 / __/ __/___ _/ // / /|_/ / /__ _\ \/ _/_____ /____/_/ /_/\___/ ____________ The Devils' Tower _____________ /___/___/______ _______________________________________________________________________________ DANTE -------------------- Invade the colossal tower. ------------------ VERGIL == Dante's Office: Front == You can backtrack here from the start if you want some extra action and orb pickups. A variety of Hell Prides, Lusts, and Wraths will attack much like the last mission. == 66 Sunset Avenue == The Enigmas are introduced here. On higher difficulties these enemies can be a nightmare with their red arrows and constant running, but they are not too bad on hard difficulty or anything below. Avoid their blue arrows on your way up to them and take them out quickly. Hell Prides, Lusts, and Wraths will eventually litter the street below. Use the barrels on the side (shoot them with a gun) to defeat them quickly and of course shoot the Hell Wraths first when they appear with a group of enemies. == Bullseye == There are plenty of breakable objects in here that you can destroy for red orbs - barrels, bottles, jukeboxes, etc. Hit the device with the Sanskrit emblem behind the jukeboxes until it fully lights up to get rid of the blue seal blocking your path. Grab the ++SHOTGUN++ from off the left side of the wall behind the blue seal (Dante only). == Love Planet == Right after the cutscene, jump away from the steps. Three Hell Sloths will teleport to the top of the steps and slash all at once. The Sloths will attack by teleporting toward you after they cry out and will slash you once they teleport next to you. Watch for their sudden yell then get ready to dodge. Hell Lusts will join the Sloths after you have defeated the first three Sloths. The red seal will disappear after you have defeated all the enemies. == 13th Avenue == Jump on top of the Love Planet sign and walk to the end for some red orbs. Destroy both dumpsters for some red orbs and leap onto the catwalks on the side of the right building (look for the ladder) for some more red orbs. You can destroy the side of the left building next to the Love Plant building. Jump to the second floor for a red orb and hit the orb pillar for some more. Jump on top of the left building near the end and hit the Combat Adjudicator on the side with the Yamato (Vergil) or Rebellion (Dante) until you get a "Blast!" style ranking for a BLUE ORB FRAGMENT. Another BLUE ORB FRAGMENT is on top of the last standing building on the right. Enter the doors of the building on the right to start Secret Mission 1. Be sure to power-up at the Divinity Statue since you've got a big battle coming up. =============================== Secret Mission 1 - The Exorcist =============================== Defeat all enemies within the time limit This secret mission will place you back in the Love Planet showroom and make you face off against Hell Prides, Lusts, and Sloths. They must all be beaten within the time limit of one minute in order to win a BLUE ORB FRAGMENT. VERGIL - Use Force Edge's standard combo and never let up on attacking. When one enemy dies, Air Trick to the next standing enemy. Remember that Vergil starts out with Devil Trigger, so activate it when it's fully charged. DANTE - Use Rebellion's standard combo and do not let up. == Ice Guardian's Chamber == Walk toward the back for a cutscene. =============================================================================== Boss - Cerberus Weakness: Fire (Agni & Rudra) You will have to continually shoot your projectile weapon at this boss to destroy the ice that protects his three heads. Always aim for one of the boss' heads with your projectile attacks to take more damage. Stay away from him and watch his actions to know what attack he will do. If he howls, that means ice crystals are about to rain from the ceiling so you will need to roll to the sides a few times to avoid it. Wait until a frost patch appears below you and then roll to the right or left to avoid the attack a bit better. The attack will become much harder to avoid as the battle continues since the ice crystal rain will start to last longer, prompting you to roll more than once. When he starts to charge, move away from the front of him since he will shoot a group of ice balls from his mouth. You can hit the ice balls for some green orbs if your aim is good enough. If you are on one of the sides during his ice ball attack, you can run up to his side and attack one of his front feet to make him fall then hit one of his heads while he recovers. The main attack you will need to look out for while fighting him (especially on harder difficulties) is his pounce attack. He will lean back like an animal ready to pounce, then leap toward you. Stay out of his way before the pounce and he will miss you - roll if needed. The chains on his legs will start to reel him back in as he recovers from the pounce and that is your cue to target a head and attack him while he moves back. Eventually he will stomp the ground and ice will shoot up all around him as he turns red with anger. His attacks will become much faster during this phase so you will need to watch his actions more carefully to make sure he doesn't catch you off guard. VERGIL - It's a good idea to have your Summoned Swords up to at least level 2 for this battle. You can easily stand back on any difficulty level and kill this boss by spamming him to death with Summoned Swords if they are at level 3. Use Vergil's Yamato air attack or a Trick Up while jumping to avoid Cerberus' ice breath better while jumping. Use Force Edge's normal combo or Yamato's Aerial Rave when you go to attack Cerberus in either of his heads with a melee weapon. DANTE - Your handguns will play a vital role in this battle for removing the ice that protects his heads. Constantly shoot at him with the handguns while dodging his attacks. Hit him with Rebellion's normal combo as he recovers from a pounce. If this is your second playthrough then Agni & Rudra will work even better for attacking him. =============================================================================== = Cerberus' Attacks = =============================================================================== Ice Crystal Rain - Cerberus will raise his middle head into the air and roar. Ice Crystals will rain from the ceiling and fall wherever your character is currently at. Ice Breath - Cerberus will raise his right head into the air then breathe ice onto the ground and freeze the entire area. Ice Ball - Cerberus will kneel his head down and charge while glowing a bluish color in the mouth. He will eventually pull his head upwards and shoot out an ice ball directly ahead of him. As the battle progresses he will start to shoot out more than one ice ball. Pounce - Cerberus will jump backward like an animal before it pounces, then rush toward you. He will start to pounce faster as the battle progresses and will start to move backward after the pounce faster as well. On higher difficulties there is very little warning for this move. Ice Shockwave - Cerberus will raise one of his front paws into the air and hit the ground sending an ice shockwave toward you. He will usually do a shockwave with his right paw then do another with his left paw. Bite - If you get next him he will try to bite you with all three heads at once. Paw Strike - If you remain next to one of his sides for too long he will lean one of his paws back and hit you with it. =============================================================================== You will receive ++CERBERUS++ after this battle (Dante only). Ignore the door covered in flames for now. Run up a few levels of the tower and go through the blue door. == Entranceway == A few Hell Prides will attack as you run up the stairs. == Living Statue Room == Defeat the Enigmas and Hell Lusts to break the seal on the red door. Nevermind the cage for the moment. Go through the red door. == Silence Statuary == Destroy the statues for some red orb pickups. There is a red orb pillar in the back as well. Hit the Sanskrit emblem on the side of the wall until it lights up then get on the elevator. == Incandescent Space == Hell Gluttonies and Sloths will attack once the elevator reaches the top. The Hell Gluttonies are actually pretty easy to defeat, just make sure to watch out for their sand spray attack. Use the railing to jump on top of the pipe to find a BLUE ORB FRAGMENT in an alcove up above the pipe. == Chamber of Echoes == Climb to the next level and enter the yellow door. The pedestal at the top cannot be used at the moment. == Endless Infernum == Walk up the stairs and they will start to crumble. == Chamber of Sins == Hell Sloths, Lusts, and Wraths will attack. Enter the pillar of light after the battle to return to where you were. == Endless Infernum == Walk through the big red door. == Giantwalker Chamber == =============================================================================== Boss - Gigapede Weakness: Ice (Cerberus), Fire (Agni & Rudra) Immediately jump onto the Gigapede's back at the start and attack it as it goes into the wall. Wait until it comes back out of the hole (look for the light), then jump onto its back and work your way to its head. Attack it directly in the back of the head to deal double damage to it. The Gigapede will start to move faster and will eventually retreat back into the wall after hitting its head a few times. If you attack the Gigapede anywhere else on its body, besides its head, it will turn over and dump you off eventually. Wait above the hole that it goes into and jump onto its back as it enters the area to kill it quickly. It is possible to target the Gigapede while it is still inside the hole - this will help as you wait for it to exit each hole. VERGIL - Use Force Edge's normal combo while on the back of the Gigapede. Use Trick Up to help you get some extra distance when jumping on his back. If you fall off of his back continuously hit him with Summoned Swords until he retreats back into a hole. DANTE - Use Cerberus on the back of its head when you get on its back. Blast the Gigapede with Ebony & Ivory from a distance if you can't get on its back at the moment. =============================================================================== = Gigapede's Attacks = =============================================================================== Energy Shots - The Gigapede will fire purple balls of energy from its sides and they will all home in on you. Lightning Shots - The Gigapede will send out blue energy balls that will shoot a stream of lightning out of the bottom as it travels toward you. =============================================================================== Enter through the bottom door at the other end after the battle. == Incandescent Space == Pick up the Astronomical Board from the alcove on the right (character's left) as you enter. A cutscene will start as you attempt to leave. [MI05] ______ __ ________ ______________________________________________ ________ __ __/ _ \/ |/ / ___/ Mission 5 / __/ __/___ _/ // / /|_/ / /__ _\ \/ _/_____ /____/_/ /_/\___/ __________ Of Devils and Swords ____________ /___/___/______ _______________________________________________________________________________ DANTE ----------- Unleash your might on the demonic gatekeepers. ------- VERGIL == Giantwalker Chamber == At the very start, Blood-Goyles will attack. Do not attack them normally with a melee weapon or you'll only cause them to multiply. Shoot them with whatever projectile-type weapon you have to turn them to stone. Hit them enough while they are stoned and they will shatter. These things are actually more annoying on easier difficulty setting since they will multiply with fewer hits from accidental melee attacks on their blood form. After the battle go back the way you...huh!? Well, let's see where that portal leads shall we? You can't leave the room (through the big doors) until you go through the portal. =============================================================================== Boss - Jester Ah, the DMC3:SE exclusive boss! He's actually pretty easy once you learn when to attack him. He will usually start out with his taunt stance. While he is taunting, you must attack him with a projectile weapon. He will begin to dance in place as you shoot projectiles at him and will eventually teleport to an area across from you and fan himself with his baton - that is your cue to unload on him. If you try to hit him with a melee weapon during his taunting, he will dodge the hit by teleporting elsewhere and will taunt you some more. Eventually he will surround himself with a force field and will summon energy spheres from portals that will appear near him. Stay away from him while the energy spheres are exiting the portals. If the spheres circle him or bounce around him it is best to move around the center area and avoid the sphere while continuously firing at him with your projectile weapon. If you see a green sphere among the other purple spheres, you can destroy it for a green orb (use a projectile weapon). When only one portal opens you will need to roll away from the oncoming spheres that will shoot rapidly out of the portal by rolling to one side continuously - when you reach the opposite side start rolling the other way. It is possible to run up to him directly after each sphere attack and get a few hits in while he is still surrounded by the force field. He will go back to his taunt stance after the force field is gone. VERGIL - Fire Summoned Swords at him while he is in his taunt stance. Use Beowulf's first two hit's from the normal combo and chain into the Lunar Phase or just do constant Lunar Phases. While dodging his spheres constantly hit him with Summoned Swords. DANTE - Fire Ebony & Ivory shots at him while he is in his taunt stance. Use Cerberus' Revolver on him while when he is stunned. While dodging his spheres constantly hit him with Ebony & Ivory shots. =============================================================================== = Jester's Attacks = =============================================================================== Taunt Stance - While he is taunting you cannot hit him with a melee weapon or he will simply dodge the hit by teleporting. Hit him with a projectile weapon and he will begin to dance in place then teleport to an area across from you and fan himself with his baton. Force Field and Energy Spheres - He will encase himself in a force field and will summon energy spheres through one, two, or three portals. - One portal - The energy spheres will shoot out of the portals rapidly and move straight toward you in groups. - Two portals - The energy spheres will shoot out of the portals and bounce around the room randomly. - Three portals - The energy spheres will exit through the portals and begin to circle Jester. =============================================================================== After you beat him, enter the portal that appears to go back to where you were. == Giantwalker Chamber == Go back through the large red double doors and make your way back to the Chamber of Echoes. == Chamber of Echoes == Place the Astronomical Board on the pedestal at the top of the chamber to make two walls, which were previously blocking your way to an item, retract. The small glowing section of the floor on the bottom will give you a boost if you jump on it to help you get back up to the top floor. Jump down to the bottom of the chamber to get to the item that is now available. Collect the Vajura from the fourth floor and go through the blue door on the third floor. == Entranceway == Fight off the Hell Pride's as normal and enter the door up the stairs. == Living Statue Room == Use the Vajura on the second floor crank. This will lift the cage in the middle of the room. Approach the cage and grab the Soul of Steel from the pedestal. Hell Gluttonies and Enigmas will warp into the room and seal off both entrances. Defeat the Enigmas first since they will continually fire arrows at you. Go back to the Chamber of Echoes. == Chamber of Echoes == Use the glowing section of the floor to hop back up to the top floors and enter the yellow door near the topmost floor. == Endless Infernum == Walk toward the abyss, where the stairs were on the last mission, and walk across to the other side. Since you have the Soul of Steel you will not fall into the abyss. Hit the Combat Adjudicator on the side with Beowulf (Vergil) or Cerberus (Dante) enough times to get an "Alright!" style ranking to get a BLUE ORB FRAGMENT. Put the Soul of Steel in the hollow place on the wall to reveal a door. == Surge of Fortunas == Walk down the steps and head toward the elevator. Examine the red glowing emblem on the wall for Secret Mission 2. ============================== Secret Mission 2 - Untouchable ============================== Defeat all enemies while taking no damage. VERGIL - If you are Vergil, you should have no problem. Have the Yamato equipped and run toward one of the Enigmas on the right or left side. Dodge the first arrow attack while standing near one of the side Engimas then unload on each of them one by one with a jumping Yamato slash. It should only take two air attacks per Enigma. Use Vergil's teleport to speed things up when moving in between the others. DANTE - Run straight toward one of the side Enigmas and start to hit him while locked onto him. As soon as the Enigmas in the back fire their arrows, roll out of the way and continue attacking. Attack all the others quickly and they shouldn't be able to fire again. You will be given a BLUE ORB FRAGMENT. == Surge of Fortunas == Walk toward the emblem and fire it up with slashes then jump on the elevator. Hell Prides will attack while the elevator is moving up. Wait for them to jump into the middle, then jump away from them. Use the normal Yamato combo (Vergil) or Rebellion's normal combo (Dante) to knock them off the elevator while they are grouped. The last hit or Vergil's Yamato will send them all off. == Azure Garden == Leap up the side of the walls for some red orb pickups. Walk down the steps to find a Divinity Statue along with plenty of breakable objects across from it. Enter the red door. == Firestorm Chamber == =============================================================================== Boss - Agni & Rudra Weakness (Agni): Ice (Cerberus) Agni and Rudra are quite the duo and it is extremely helpful to listen to them as they attack and they will let you know when to roll, jump, or counter. Both of them will charge behind you at the beginning of the battle and will then run toward you and either jump at you or run toward you and slash you from the ground. Most of the time they will each jump. Lock onto one of them and keep backing up as they dash then jump right before the first one lands and jump again right before the other hits the ground. If you are brave enough, you can do an air attack on the way down from the second jump. The best way to hit these two is to knock the sword out of their hands. In order to do this you will need to hit them right before they attack. You must hit them not exactly the second before their sword hits you, but a little bit before they are about to strike. A good way to time the attack is to attack one of them until he blocks then let up. Each one will always counter with an attack based on your distance. When you see the attack coming, attack a little bit before the slash to instantly knock the sword out of that boss' hand (depending on the difficulty). Sometimes a jumping attack works best to knock the weapon out of their hands. The boss will kneel over and be totally open to attack after you knock away his weapon. Any attacks on him while he is kneeling over will result in double damage to that boss. If you want to go the defensive route then you will need to dodge each of their attacks right when you hear them yell out their phrases before attacking and hit them from the back. Take advantage of whenever you see one of them charging a sword and get a few free hits in. The boss with the charged sword will always be the most aggressive so be sure to target him. If you can get the boss with the charged blade to hit the other boss then this will take off quite a bit of damage from the other boss. I would highly advise you to try to weaken both bosses at the same time. Once one of the bosses has been killed off a cutscene will play eventually, in which the other boss will take up his brother's sword and continue the battle with both swords. Right after the cutscene you will need to jump since the boss will be in the middle of jumping strike as the cutscene ends. While one of the bosses has both swords they will do the attacks of both Agni and Rudra. You will have to listen to the phrase that they yell out and which arm they pull back to know what attack they will do. The boss will be able to do both of Agni and Rudra's super attacks in one big super attack. They will also have a new super attack in which they will send a constant group of three flame waves toward you. You will need to walk in between the flames or roll through them. The same rules as when you were fighting them together still apply to this battle. You can still knock the swords out of the boss' hand to stun him, but it is much harder now. VERGIL - Use the Force Edge ground combo, the Yamato air attack, or Beowulf's Lunar Phase while the bosses are stunned. You can easily spam both bosses with the Yamato air attack the entire battle and come out victorious. When you attack them with the air attack, just barely tap the jump button and slash then repeat. The Yamato Aerial Rave is also the best way to knock their sword out of their hands with Vergil. Hit one of them and make him block then right before he attacks, tap the jump button and use Aerial Rave. This will almost always knock the sword out of that boss' hand. Be sure to spam them with Summoned Swords as they run away or run toward you. Another good method for Vergil is to avoid their attacks by Tricking Up right before they attack then come down upon the with a Helmet Breaker. The Tricking Up method works really well for when there is only one left. DANTE - Have Cerberus' Lv.2 Revolver and hit them with it as they attack to knock the swords out of their hands. This move is capable of removing both the weapons from each boss' hand at once if timed correctly. Cerberus will take double damage at all times from Agni because of his weakness to ice. Use Ebony & Ivory while dodging their attacks from a distance. =============================================================================== = Agni's Attacks = =============================================================================== Running Jump Attack - After running to one side of the room with his brother, Agni will run toward you then jump into the air creating a shockwave when he hits the ground. He will sometimes do this while standing as well. Running Slash Attack - After running to one side of the room with his brother, Agni will run toward you then slash. Forward Thrust - Agni will yell out "It's over" right before lunging toward you with a forward thrust. Small Slice - Agni will yell "See ya!" then perform a quick horizontal slash. Flame Current - Agni will spin the fire sword behind him while yelling and plunge the sword into the ground sending a flame current toward you. Charge - Agni will hold sword downward and keep the free hand on the sword while yelling and will charge the sword with the fire element. =============================================================================== = Rudra's Attacks = =============================================================================== Running Jump Attack - After running to one side of the room with his brother, Rudra will run toward you then jump into the air creating a shockwave when he hits the ground. He will sometimes do this while standing as well. Running Slash Attack - After running to one side of the room with his brother, Rudra will run toward you then slash. Uppercut - Rudra will yell out "Eat this!", while twirling the wind sword behind his back, then perform an uppercut slice. Small Uppercut - Rudra will state "See ya." then perform a quick uppercut. (Please note that he does not yell for this attack) Whirlwind - Rudra will spin the wind sword behind him while yelling and plunge the sword into the ground creating a whirlwind around him. Charge - Rudra will hold sword downward and keep the free hand on the sword while yelling and will charge the sword with the wind element. =============================================================================== = Together = =============================================================================== Uppercut with wind sword - Boss will yell out "Eat this!", while twirling the wind sword behind his back, then perform an uppercut slice with his left hand. Forward Thrust with fire sword - Boss will yell out "It's over" right before lunging toward you with a forward thrust from his right hand. Small Uppercut with wind sword - Boss will state "See ya." then perform a quick uppercut with his left hand. (Please note that he does not yell for this attack) Small Slice with fire sword - Boss will yell "See ya!" then perform a quick horizontal slash with his right hand. Whirlwind and Flame current - Boss will spin the wind sword behind him while yelling and plunge both swords into the ground creating a whirlwind around him and this will also send a flame current toward you. Fire Waves - Boss will spin both of the swords above him then shoot three waves toward you a total of three times. Running Cross Slash - Boss will suddenly run toward you and perform a cross slash with both swords as he reaches you. Somersault Strike - Boss will jump into the air and quickly do a somersault then use the wind sword to do a downward strike as he hits the ground. =============================================================================== You will receive ++AGNI & RUDRA++ at the end of this boss fight (Dante only). Go through the door in the back to finish this mission. [MI06] ______ __ ________ ______________________________________________ ________ __ __/ _ \/ |/ / ___/ Mission 6 / __/ __/___ _/ // / /|_/ / /__ _\ \/ _/_____ /____/_/ /_/\___/ _______________ Family Ties ________________ /___/___/______ _______________________________________________________________________________ DANTE --------------- Clear the trial and forge a new path. ------------ VERGIL == Mute Goddess' Chamber == Jump on top of the Goddess statue for some extra red orbs. Head through the red double doors. == Chamber of 3 Trials == Here you will have a choice of three trials. You must complete at least two of them to advance further. Place the two Essences from any two of the trials on the goddess statue to get rid of the debris in front of the door in the Mute Goddess' chamber. If you place three Essences on the statue you will receive absolutely nothing (Vergil) or ++ARTEMIS++ (Dante). == Trial of the Warrior (Right Path) == Walk to the middle area and your path will be sealed off. For this battle you will get a little taste of what it is like to play on Dante Must Die Mode. Try to fight them right now if you want some DMD mode practice. All the enemies that attack will Devil Trigger and become unstoppable when the Sanskrit emblems are not lit up. You will have to run to each Sanskrit emblem and light each of them up to cancel the enemies' Devil Trigger mode. As soon as one of the emblems goes out the enemies will return to Devil Trigger mode so you will have to constantly run back and hit each Sanskrit emblem to light it back up. The first few enemies will be Hell Prides then some Hell Gluttonies and a Hell Wrath will teleport into the area later. By the end Hell Lusts and Sloths will be attacking as well. Be sure to take out the Sloths quickly since they can be a real nuisance while Devil Triggered with their teleport attack. Grab the Essence of Fighting from the pedestal and leave the room. == Trial of Skill (Middle Path) == This trial is all about jumping and dodging. Move out of the way of the wall spikes and jump over the floor spikes while heading down the path to the Essence of Technique. Blood-Goyles and Hell Gluttonies will attack as you go to leave the trial. == Trial of Wisdom (Left Path) == You will have a number of doorways to choose from when you go inside. In order to solve the puzzle you must go through the correct doorways with the right corresponding number of lit up stones above the doorway. If you choose the wrong doorway you will have to fight a group of Hell Prides and Lusts with some Blood-Goyles. Look at the blue stone tablet outside the trials to find the following message: "Your wisdom will be put to the test in the chamber ahead. Use your lifetime experience: from the crawling infant; to the man standing tall; and finally to the old man-leaning on his cane." In other words, the code is the number of limbs that each figure is standing up on. "From the crawling infant (4); to the man standing tall (2); and finally to the old man-leaning on his cane (3)." So the correct path sequence is: ******************* Four - Two - Three ******************* Once you have solved the maze you will find the Essence of Intelligence. Walk through whichever door of your choosing when you're done to exit the trial. == The Dark Corridor == Hit the Combat Adjudicator to the side with Force Edge (Vergil) or Agni & Rudra (Dante) enough times to get an "Alright!" style ranking and you will receive a BLUE ORB FRAGMENT. There are some red orb pickups above the statue and above the stairway down the hall. Walk up the stairs to finish this mission. [MI07] ______ __ ________ ______________________________________________ ________ __ __/ _ \/ |/ / ___/ Mission 7 / __/ __/___ _/ // / /|_/ / /__ _\ \/ _/_____ /____/_/ /_/\___/ ____________ A Chance Meeting ______________ /___/___/______ _______________________________________________________________________________ DANTE ------------------- Duel of the demon children. ------------------ VERGIL == The Dark Corridor == Walk back the way you came from the last mission and pick up the red orbs in the same places once again. Jump to the alcove to the right of the door with the face imprinting above it and examine the skeleton statue with the red jewel for a secret mission. =================================== Secret Mission 3 - Death From Above =================================== Stay in the air for 20 seconds or more. As the description says you will to stay in the air for 20 seconds during this mission in order to get a blue orb fragment. Stay in the middle at the beginning since Hell Prides will teleport into the room near each doorway. VERGIL - Run inside one of the doorways and have all four Hell Prides follow you. Start to jump while inside the doorway and as the Hell Prides group below Vergil, you should be able to start jumping off of them as you keep jumping. Virgil's head will continually hit the ceiling of the doorway while jumping off of the enemy. This may take a few tries, but it works well. DANTE - You can actually use the same method that is used with Vergil. Another way is to have Nevan with Swordmaster Style and continually do the Air Slash then cancel into Air Play to keep Dante floating in the air. You can also quickly switch to a weapon that will allow Dante to do an Air Hike then switch back to Nevan and repeat. If you are close to a wall or enemy then you can skip off the wall or enemy when you get near the ground. Nevan's Air Raid will also help you out as well. == The Dark Corridor == Enter through the door with the face above it. == Heavenrise Chamber == Fall all the way to the bottom and go through the door. == Divine Library == Some of the statues in the library (Damned Pawns) will attack once you get next to them. While attacking them, jump away from them as their swords glow red or they will spread their swords apart and hit you in the process. Use Yamato's Judgement Cut (Vergil) or Cerberus' Revolver (Dante) to defeat them quickly. One of the Pawns will be guarding an Orihalcon Fragment. Grab the Orihalcon Fragment and exit the room. == Heavenrise Chamber == Use the glowing sections of the floor to bounce all the way up to the green door at the very top. == Pitch Black Void == Walk to the character's right as you enter. Jump to the ceiling above the stairs and jump along the arches above you to find a BLUE ORB FRAGMENT on the last small archway at the very top. Open the blue door. == Skull Spire == Some Damned Pawns will block your path in the hall ahead. Jump behind the railing next to the tall door at the top of the stairs to find a Vital Star S. Ignore the other door for now, since you don't have the other crystal skull yet and go through the tall door. == Tranquil Souls Room == Red seals will cover all the doorways as you enter. Walk toward the statue with candles around it and Hell Greeds will teleport into the room. These enemies will constantly bury their coffins into the ground and summon Hell Prides and Lusts so these enemies should always be the first ones you should defeat when they are in a crowd. While attacking them, if they ever hold their coffin up, they are about to take a swing at you. Jump away right before they swing and wait for them to bury the coffin into the ground then attack them. Use either Beowulf's Lunar Phase or the Yamato's Judgement Cut (Vergil) or Cerberus' Revolver (Dante) to defeat them quickly. Collect the Siren's Shriek from the altar after the battle. Open the tall door across from the statue. == Lift Room == Use the Yamato (Vergil) or Rebellion (Dante) to destroy the Combat Adjudicator to the right with a "Stylish!!" Style Ranking and you will receive a BLUE ORB FRAGMENT. Use the Orihalcon Fragment
